Working with new materials can be very inspirational for a visual artist. In 2010 I started making maroon figurines with the help of Paverpol, a molding polymer and textile hardener. These figurines, the ‘Samaaka muje’s’ as I call them, now especially popular amongst tourists, are available at the crafts & souvenirs department of Readytex in Paramaribo.

I also use Paverpol to make larger objects. Mixed with sawdust, sand, marble dust or even cement, it offers me countless possibilities to work on a larger scale.
